What NOT to do while uploading a Bank/Till statement

Follow these guidelines to ensure smooth processing and accurate data extraction.

# ❌ Things to avoid

  • Do not upload or send password-encrypted statements without providing their passwords.
The system cannot access or process password-protected documents without the correct password.
  • Only submit relevant financial documents. Acceptable files include:
    • Bank statements
    • Paybill statements
    • Till statements
    • M-Pesa statements
Do NOT upload ID documents, passport photos, tax documents, loan application forms, or other non-financial files — these are not processed for loan appraisals.

# ✅ Document upload methods

There are two ways to upload documents:

# 1. Upload via the organization's email

  • Forward the client’s emailed statement to the organization’s onboarding email (e.g., digistatements@gmail.com).

# 2. Upload directly through the system

  1. Click Upload New.
  2. Select the bank from the dropdown and click Browse to locate the document on your device.
  3. Click Enter Password.

# 🔐 Password entry

  • After uploading, a pop-up will appear.
  • If the document is password-protected:
    • Enter the correct password in the Document Password textbox, then click Enter Password.
  • If the document is NOT password-protected:
    • Click inside the Document Password textbox and leave the cursor blinking, then click Enter Password.
  • ⚠️ Do not enter a random or default password if none was provided — doing so may prevent successful processing.

# ▶️ Preview & Start Analysis

  • Once the password step is completed, a preview of the document will appear on the right side of the page.
  • Review the preview, then click Start Analysis to begin data extraction.

# Helpful tips

  • If you received the file directly from the bank or Safaricom portal, forward it as-is (do not rename or edit).
  • If the client provides a password, include it clearly (e.g., in the body of the forwarded email). If the password is an ID number, prefix it with a hash # (e.g., #36712657).
